“Statement From The Office of Student Affairs Practitioner, Nigeria Regarding the Expulsion of Miss Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious of Nnamdi Azikiwe University”
We have been made aware of a disturbing incident involving a student from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, a third-year student from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, was involved in a physical altercation with a lecturer, Dr. Michael Okoye.
The incident occurred when the student was making a TikTok video on a walkway, obstructing Dr. Okoye from passing. When Dr. Okoye politely requested the student to excuse him, she responded with verbal insults. The situation escalated when Dr. Okoye asked her to delete the video, leading to a physical altercation where the student bit Dr. Okoye multiple times, resulting in severe injuries.
The University Senate has taken decisive action, expelling the student for her egregious behavior. We commend the University Senate for its prompt and decisive action, ensuring that the campus remains a place of learning, growth, and mutual respect.
As student affairs practitioners, we uphold the values of respect, discipline, and responsible behavior. We will not tolerate any form of misconduct that compromises the well-being and safety of students and staff.
This incident serves as a cautionary tale, reminding students that actions have consequences. We urge all students to reflect on their behavior and uphold the highest standards of conduct.
Signed,
Gabriel Chibuikem Eze,
