Urgent Call to Action: Ensure Safety of Students in Nigerian Schools
As a student affairs practitioner, I am compelled to address a pressing concern that affects us all – the safety and well-being of our students. The recent incidents of school building collapses in Nigeria have left me deeply disturbed and prompted me to sound this alarm.
To all school proprietors, proprietresses, and owners in Nigeria, I urge you to take immediate action to ensure that your school structures are solid, secure, and safe for our children. The reports of collapsed school buildings, resulting in the loss of precious young lives and narrowly escaped fatalities, are utterly unacceptable.
We cannot afford to wait for another tragedy to occur. It is your responsibility as custodians of these institutions to guarantee that the buildings are structurally sound and meet the highest safety standards. Any further negligence or lapses in this regard will be unacceptable and may lead to legal consequences.
Let us work together to prevent such senseless losses and prioritize the safety and security of our students. I implore you to conduct thorough inspections, address any structural weaknesses, and invest in necessary renovations to ensure that your school buildings are safe havens for our children to learn and grow.
Let us unite in this effort to protect the future of our nation – our students. We owe it to them, their parents, and ourselves to provide a secure environment for them to thrive.
Take action now. Ensure that your school buildings are safe. Our children’s lives depend on it.
Needless and unforgettable loss. Hopefully they will do the right thing and prevent any future occurrences. Good job Prof Gab.
Thank you, mpa.
Honestly, it calls for immediate action against structures that are not solid including the ones without a solid foundation.
The government and agency involved should please, look into this matter.
